The mission of American Heritage Girls is
“building women of integrity through service to God, family, country and community.”
Our Troop Anchor is “My soul rejoices in God my savior” ~ Luke 1:47
Meetings: Our Troop meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, 6:30-8:00pm at St. Paul Catholic Church in Carrollwood. The girls work on badge-work at meetings together with their Level Unit. They can also work on badges at home based on their interest.
Activities: We have at least one additional activity each month, including service projects, celebrations, camping trips, and fundraisers. These are held on the weekends, and are scheduled far enough in advance so that our families know if they are able to attend, and possibly modify their schedule, if necessary.
Service Projects: During the 2018-2019 Program Year, our Troop earned more than 1,000 service hours! Almost half of our Troop earned the Presidential Service Award. We completed 7 different Troop service projects, including participating in the AHG National Day of Service, hosting the Children's Advent Mission, visiting the Brookdale Nursing Home to sing Christmas carols and bring handmade Christmas cards, and assisting in the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, among others! We are always looking for new ways to serve!
Camping: Our families come from all backgrounds: RV owners who camp at least once a month to families who are buying a tent for the first time. Our goal is to have 2-3 camping trips per year, with one of them being a more “alternative camping” location. In 2018-2019, we spent Memorial Day weekend camping at Hillsborough River State Park and a February overnight underneath the Atlantis orbiter at NASA Kennedy!!!
Celebrations: We have two Annual Badge Ceremonies, where we recognize the achievements of our girls. In the Fall, we join in a Mother-Daughter Tea hosted at St. Paul’s. In the Winter, we host a Father-Daughter Dance for the entire community. In the Spring, our girls construct pinewood derby cars, and we join a local Trail Life Troop in their Grand Prix Pinewood Derby Race Day.
Fundraisers: We can have up to three fundraisers per year. Our goal is for our fundraisers to be educational for the girls, as well as short and sweet (for the parents). During the 2018-2019 Program year, we used our fundraising efforts to support our girls camping at NASA Kennedy.
Please join us to hear even more and meet our families!!
